How To Get Invisalign Aligners

Make an appointment with an Orthodontist

To start this journey, contact the nearest orthodontist near you for a consultation.

Invisalign isn’t right for all patients, and a orthodontist can help you determine if you will benefit from the Invisalign treatment or if you require other treatments.

During your Visit

The orthodontist will detect what type of issues your teeth may have. This will include overbite, underbite, crossbite, or crowded teeth. Once a orthodontist conducts a check up, you may require x-rays to help him determine what your teeth require.

If your orthodontist finds that invisalign can’t be used to straighten your smile, then the orthodontist will give you other alternatives.

Keep in mind that it’s important to be completely honest with your orthodontist. Your lifestyle, habits, and preferences can determine if invisalign is the best option you want to invest in.

Your consultation will go over the cost for the treatment, as well as the amount of time you’ll spend in treatment. Treatments can last a little as a few months to several years.

Making Your Custom Invisalign

The process begins once your orthodontist determines that Invisalign option  best option and they have your consent.

The journey begins with using a scanner that will create a 3D image of you teeth. These 3D images will help us generate a customized aligner for your teeth. Your aligners are then shaped to your teeth as well as your gums. This process ensures us that these aligners will fit comfortable with your teeth.

Once you put the Invisalign aligners for the first time, your orthodontist will check them to make sure nothing is poking your gums or hurting your teeth.

Be honest with the orthodontist and let him know if the Invisalign aligners exceeds normal discomfort. Feel free to ask your orthodontist questions. They are more than happy to help you answer any questions you have about your Invisalign aligners. Call if you think of any questions or should any issues arise.

What To Expect Once During the Invisalign Treatment

Like we mention above, the Invisalign aligner you will be wearing can vary in time. Your orthodontist will set an amount of time for your treatment.

We recommended you wear the aligners as often as possible and only removing them for eating, flossing, or brushing your teeth.

We also recommend you remove your invisalign aligners if you’re drinking anything else other than water. This will help you minimize your chances of developing tooth decay or staining your aligners.

Brush and floss your teeth normally, but be sure to brush your teeth more often after meals.

Your orthodontist will require for a scheduled check-up every six to ten weeks. Your orthodontist will check to make sure you are on track to finish the treatment. This check up also give you an opportunity to pick up a new set of Invisalign aligners if you need them.

After the Treatment

Once the treatment has been completed, we will receive retainers to help stabilize the correction. Don’t worry it will not be necessary to wear your retainer all day like you did during your treatment. We found that wearing them every night was sufficient.

It is important that you wear the retainers as instructed by your orthodontist. Failure to wear the retainers may result in undesirable movement of teeth, or having to go through a re-treatment.

Taking Care of Retainers

Please keep retainers away from heaters, dishwashers, car dashboards, or anything temperatures exceeding 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

Keep retainers in the proper case when they are not in the patient’s mouth.

Keep them away from pets and small children.

Clean retainers before and after putting them in the mouth. Clean by gentle scrubbing with a toothbrush with a denture cleaning solution. Your orthodontist will give you further instructions about cleaning your retainers.
