Posted on October 16, 2018

Happy Halloween! This year, there are a lot of opportunities to celebrate right here in Encino, California! Here are a few of the family-friendly Halloween events we’ve heard about!

Haunted History Spooky Jazz Age Celebration

Presented by the Los Encinos Docent Association, the Haunted History Spooky Jazz Age Celebration will take place on October 28th at 4pm at Los Encinos State Historic Park. Wear your roaring 20’s outfit or vintage-style Halloween costume to really get in the spirit! Guests are invited to pack a picnic meal to enjoy in the park, or purchase pizza from California Pizza Kitchen’s catering booth! Live jazz age music will be provided by Dutch Newman’s Musical Melodians, and the lawn will be available for dancing! After dark, there will be a showing of classic spooky cartoons and the 1925 Phantom of the Opera. Additional activities include a costume parade for kids and adults, pumpkin carving and painting, face painting, spooky stories, and games. The event is free, but donations are encouraged.

Halloween Carnival

This year’s Halloween Carnival will be superhero themed! Come to the Encino Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 12pm-4pm to check it out. There will be costume contests, game booths, arts and crafts, temporary tattoos, prizes, and more!

12th Annual Sea Scare

Every year, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium hosts a great family Halloween party! Sea Scare will take place on Saturday October 27th at 7pm at the aquarium. Guests can trick-or-treat at 13 different treat stations, participate in creepy crafts, dance like a zombie in the Party Zone, or experience our haunted maze. Food trucks will also be on-site! Come in costume and join in on the masquerade of ghosts and goblins, it’s sure to be a frightfully good time for the whole family! Tickets should be purchased in advance, and admission is free for members of the aquarium!

Halloween Cooking Night

Got a babysitter? Gio Cucina Napoletana will be hosting a Halloween Cooking Night on October 29th at 6pm to celebrate the spooky season. Participants are invited to come be apart of an evening full of fun, learning how to make various appetizers, entrees, and desserts using the actual Gio Cucina recipes. No “hidden or secret herbs and spices” here! The class’s theme is “Fall Colors and Comfort Food,” and the menu includes Zuppe di Zucca e Mele (popular butternut squash & apple puree soup), Spaghetti Neri con Salsa Arrabiata (homemade black spaghetti with arrabiata sauce), Tortellini di Zucca (vegetarian pumpkin tortellini), and Torta di Zucca (pumpkin cheesecake, made with mascarpone cheese and served warm). The cost to attend is $75.00 per person, and this includes the class, a spiral-bound recipe notebook, dinner, and open bar (that includes all the soft drinks, coffee, house wines and beer you care to drink). Call Karina or Roberto at (818) 905-7446 to make your reservations.

Their favorite villains will be in attendance, along with some other special guests. Join this festive array of characters for a delicious buffet-style dinner and fun-filled activities including face-painting, pumpkin decorating, spooky live singing performances, Halloween themed games, magic tricks, an exciting raffle, and much more! A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation to assist in making wishes come true for sick children and their families this holiday season.
