Orthodontics LA

These aligners may be virtually invisible,
but you never will be.

Our Orthodontics LA orthodontists are CERTIFIED Invisalign providers.

Invisalign is a series of clear removable trays that create tooth movement. They are aesthetically pleasing and can barely be seen by peers. Also, it does not have metal attachments and wires. Thus, brushing and flossing with Invisalign is easy.

It is recommended to remove Invisalign when eating or drinking and brushing your teeth.

Invisalign works by providing a small amount of tooth movement with each aligner tray. You will be given several trays (number depending on your customized treatment plan), and each tray will be worn for two weeks each.

You will visit your orthodontist about every six to ten weeks to monitor your treatment.

Invisalign FAQ

invisalign alignerInvisalign Is The Best Alternative to Metal Braces

Clear or invisible braces is the term many consumers use when they talk options that don’t include traditional braces. Invisalign aligners are convenient, comfortable, and less noticeable than traditional braces. No matter what stage you’re at in life, our Invisalign treatments in Encino and Glendale will work perfectly well for both teenagers and adults.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are a cutting-edge teeth alignment treatment that has minimal interference in how you live but has a significant positive impact on how you look and feel about yourself.

These aligners are clear plastic braces that work as a perfect alternative to straightening your teeth. These new aligners allow you to avoid uncomfortable traditional braces that require tight wires and brackets. Invisalign aligners are completely clear and are designed to perfectly align your teeth.

These aligners that can be easily removed, just remember to put them back on. Invisalign allows you to live a normal and worry-free life. You can remove your Invisalign aligners for eating, brushing your teeth, flossing, and for social events. Remember the more you have them on, the faster your journey will be to having perfectly aligned teeth.

How does Invisalign work?

Over the course of treatment, you will be supplied with a series of aligners. Each aligner will make slight adjustments to tooth position, a process that is mapped out in advance by our orthodontists specifically for your situation. When the aligners are placed on the teeth, they cause the teeth to gradually shift from their current position. After approximately two weeks, you will begin using the next set of aligners, which will continue the teeth straightening process. You will be given several trays (number depending on your customized treatment plan) throughout the process.

What are aligners made of, and what do they look like?

The virtually invisible aligners, which are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for the Invisalign treatment plan, look similar to teeth-whitening trays. A series of Invisalign aligners are custom-made for you, to move your teeth in the sequence determined by your doctor.

What are the benefits of using Invisalign aligners?

The benefits of using Invisalign is that it’s the clearest form of tooth alignment treatment. They’re not invisible but we are positive that many people won’t even notice you are wearing Invisalign aligners. Aside from the clear appearance, they are also easily removable, so you can enjoy your food without worrying about food getting stuck between your braces. These are the two main reasons why many adults and teens have switched to Invisalign treatment.

Will Invisalign treatment be painful?

While Invisalign moves your teeth without the pain and anxiety metal braces can cause, some people experience temporary discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It’s also a sign that Invisalign is working, as it moves your teeth to their final destination. This discomfort typically goes away in a couple of days.

How often must I wear my aligners?

We find that aligners are most effective when worn 20 to 22 hours per day and removed only for eating, brushing and flossing. It’s crucial for patients to understand how important it is to keep their aligners on for the allotted time. Not wearing your aligners can extend treatment time.

Who is eligible for Invisalign?

Currently, Orthodontics LA offers Invisalign for teens and adults. Patients going through the Invisalign treatment must have the discipline to put the aligners on and remember to take them out when they are supposed to. Forgetting will cause major delays during this treatment.

Adults: You’ve probably wanted to have straighter teeth for a while now, but at this stage in your adult life, metal braces might not be ideal for your lifestyle. Invisalign clear aligners offer adults the convenience and flexibility to live life without the hassle associated with traditional braces.

Teens: Invisalign Teen aligners are perfect for any teen, especially if they are involved in extracurricular activities. Invisalign gives teens the flexibility to remove them before eating, taking a photo for the yearbook, going to a school dance, participating in a sporting event, or attending any social event.

Will I need retainers after getting Invisalign?

All orthodontic treatments require the use of retainers after completion to maintain your structural integrity and keep your teeth in the correct position. It is important that you wear the retainers as instructed by your orthodontist. Failure to wear the retainers may result in undesirable movement of teeth or having to go through re-treatment.

Tips for taking care of your retainers after you get them

  • Keep retainers away from heaters, dishwashers, car dashboards, or anything temperatures exceeding 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Keep retainers in the proper case when they are not in the patient’s mouth.
  • Keep retainers away from pets and small children.
  • Clean retainers before and after putting them in the mouth by gently scrubbing with a toothbrush and denture cleaning solution.
  • Soak retainers in a cleaning solution when they are not in use.

Over time, it’s normal for your retainer to wear out from use. If you feel like it’s not fitting properly, our orthodontists can adjust or replace your retainer in our convenient offices in Encino & Glendale.

Orthodontics LA Invisalign Guide

Making an Appointment

To start this journey, contact the nearest orthodontist near you for a consultation. Invisalign isn’t right for all patients, and an orthodontist can help you determine if you will benefit from the Invisalign treatment or if you require other treatments.

Initial Consultation in Encino or Glendale

The orthodontist will detect what type of issues your teeth may have. Common orthodontic problems include overbites, underbites, crossbites, or crowded teeth. You may need x-rays to help the orthodontist determine what your teeth require. If your orthodontist finds that Invisalign can’t be used to straighten your smile, then the orthodontist will give you other alternatives.

Keep in mind that it’s important to be completely honest with your orthodontist. Your lifestyle, habits, and preferences can determine if Invisalign is the best option you want to invest in. Your consultation will go over the cost for the treatment, as well as the amount of time you’ll spend in treatment. Treatments can last a little as a few months to several years.

Custom Invisalign Process

The process begins once your orthodontist determines that Invisalign is the best option and they have your consent. Then, a scanner that will be used to create a 3D image of your teeth. These 3D images will help us generate a customized aligner for your teeth. Your aligners are then shaped to your teeth as well as your gums. This process ensures us that these aligners will fit comfortably with your teeth.

Once you put the Invisalign aligners on for the first time, your orthodontist will check them to make sure nothing is poking your gums or hurting your teeth. Be honest with the orthodontist and let him or her know if the Invisalign aligners are uncomfortable. Feel free to ask your orthodontist questions. They are more than happy to answer any questions you have about your Invisalign aligners. Call if you think of any questions or any issues arise.

During the Invisalign Treatment

Like we mentioned above, the Invisalign aligners you will be wearing can vary in treatment time. Our orthodontists will set an amount of time for your treatment. We recommend you wear the aligners as often as possible and only remove them for eating, flossing, or brushing your teeth. It’s important you remove your Invisalign aligners if you’re drinking anything else other than water. This will help you minimize your chances of developing tooth decay or staining your aligners. Make sure to brush and floss your teeth normally after every meal.

Your orthodontist will require a scheduled check-up every six to ten weeks. Your orthodontist will check to make sure you are on track to finish the treatment. This check-up also gives you an opportunity to pick up a new set of Invisalign aligners if you need them.

After Treatment

Once the treatment has been completed, you will receive retainers to help stabilize the correction. Don’t worry – it will not be necessary to wear your retainer all day as you did during your treatment. We find that wearing them every night is sufficient.
